On a recent work trip to Bakersfield, CA, I decided to bring my Benny along since I would be spending the night there and didn't want to be away from him.
My dad came along too to help take care of Benny during work hours while I attended my appointments.
The work part of my trip was very successful-- a great experience overall! But the highlight of our visit to Bakersfield was probably a trip we made to Hart Park one evening.
Hart Park is a huge recreational area with many family friendly features but watching the gorgeous Peacocks roam around and raise their feathers was simply spectacular.
Benny had the best time ever.
Someone there gave him bread crumbs to feed the peacocks. Benny ate the crumbs instead.
We watched carefully when one of the birds flew over the fence and landed near the spectators. Benny chased after it.
We were stunned and in silence seeing a peacock attempt to court a fellow peahen (It's mating season, we were told). Benny screamed with enthusiasm and broke the silence.
This was a beautiful experience. The peacocks at Hart Park are located near the ranger station and have been a community attraction for decades.
Fun facts about Peacocks:
1. The collective name for a group of Peacocks is a party
2. The male is a Peacock (only the males have the amazing plumage)
3. The female is a Peahen
4. The babies are Peachicks
5. The Peahen chooses its partner by the length, width and coloration of the tail

reciente viaje de trabajo a Bakersfield, CA, decidí llevar a mi Benny porque tenía
que quedarme la noche allí y no quería estar lejos de mi niño.

me acompañó para ayudarme a cuidar a Benny durante mis horas de trabajo.La parte del viaje relacionada con mi trabajo fue un éxito - una muy buena experiencia laboral ... pero lo más divertido de nuestra visita a Bakersfield fue un una tarde que pasamos en el parque “Hart Park”.
Hart Park es una zona recreacional con muchas actividades para la familia, pero la oportunidad de ver a los pavos reales levantar sus plumas cortejando a una pava fue simplemente espectacular.
Benny se la pasó de maravilla .
Alguien le dio pan para alimentar a los pavos reales. Pero Benny se comió las migajas.
Miramos cuidadosamente cuando uno de los pájaros voló sobre la cerca y aterrizó cerca de los espectadores. Benny empezó a corretearlo.
Nos quedamos impresionados y guardamos el silencio mientras un pavo real intentaba cortejar a su compañera (Es la época de apareamiento) . Benny gritó con entusiasmo y rompió el silencio.
Esta fue una experiencia muy bonita. Los pavos reales en el parque del Hart Park se encuentran cerca de la estación de guardabosques .
