Brunch at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel

We checked out Goofy’s Kitchen during our recent weekend at Disneyland.
The restaurant is located inside the Disneyland Hotel and reservations are highly recommended to ensure seating.
The restaurant is set up as a buffet with meal options that make children jump with joy!
On one side there are Mickey Waffles and Mickey pancakes. Then there’s Mac & Cheese pizza, chicken nuggets and hot dogs. For desserts, kids can enjoy fruit, cupcakes, ‘worms in dirt’ and the restaurant’s signature Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza (my favorite).
As far as the adults, on the day we visited, there was a salad and sandwich bar, a hot foods buffet with steak fajitas, baked ziti, sautéed vegetables, and other entrees.
An omelet bar was also open for those who wanted eggs for breakfast.
The highlight of the restaurant, however, is not the food but the opportunity to have Disney characters visit your table and join you for brunch.
Benny was particularly shy with Snow White and Alice but he tried playing with Pluto’s whiskers. LOL.
A breakfast/lunch meal at Goofy’s Kitchen is $39.99 per person but a 10% discount applies to annual passholders.

I had breakfast at a nice little restaurant the other morning here in DC.
It seemed like one of those “farm-to-table” establishments with a French sounding name that I wasn’t sure how to pronounce.
I took a seat and ordered a small latte and a chicken chorizo omelet.
The portions were perfect. Not too large, with a small side salad.
There was a also a serving of bread, which I didn’t really eat.
Le Pain Quotidien means “The ordinary bread”. The restaurant franchise was founded by Belgian baker & chef Alain Coumont.
The menu is focused around the idea of using simple, organic ingredients for great tasting food.
There’s about 15 of these restaurants in and around the DC area. There’s a few more further north and in New York City.
Apparently, there are numerous locations in Europe.
And you wanna know the best part? There’s a Le Pain Quotidien located in Manhattan Beach…
Hmmm, I sense a Zucchini & Feta Frittata for breakfast with my boys in once I’m back in L.A.!!

The food at my sister Frenchee's wedding

So by now, most of my readers (relatives and close friends) know that my youngest sister Frances got married in a castle, in Switzerland, to the love of her life.
I plan on finally telling you all about the wedding this weekend, so make sure to check back on Saturday… but since there’s so much to share about this wedding of weddings, I decided to focus on the foods we enjoyed there for today’s Tasty Thursday posting.
To put it in simple terms, everything served was exquisite.
During the cocktail hour we had a buffet of splendid and savory bites.
Upon arrival at the castle, we enjoyed delicious sangria-type spritzers with fresh berries and a variety of nuts to keep us from feeling hungry.
And dinner…Well, dinner was truly a feast.
The starter was a spring salad. Think delicious asparagus, smoked salmon & a perfect vinaigrette.
For dinner we had veal with red wine and mushroom sauces.
Dessert consisted of chocolate mousse and mango sorbet.
And not pictured below: a generous dessert bar that opened at the same time as the dance floor.
All this plus cold German beer, local wine and rose cupcakes.
A treat for all guests indeed.

Small plates in Zurich

The only thing better than the yummy meals we had in Switzerland, was the lovely company two days before my youngest sister’s wedding.

We stayed at the bride-to-be’s apartment in Zurich and during our first night there, we enjoyed a wine and spirits-filled evening with delicious little bites and tasty small plates, made and prepared by the Marquez sisters and the help of our lovely cousin Moni. Earlier in the day, we had shopped for cheese, bread and other yummies.

In the evening, the ladies took to the kitchen where we chopped, mixed, prepared, baked and sang (I hit a pretty high note—but we wont go there). Then we transferred to the living room and enjoyed every last bite of our perfectly prepared spread, which included salad, home-made pizza, pasta and an array of appetizers.

It was perfect.

Where to eat in Dusseldorf, Germany

Pretzels, Bratwurst, Beer and Polka Music.
Those were my expectations for food & fun in Germany.
We enjoyed all of the above but nothing stands out more than the meal experience we had at the Restaurant Langhardt... with a  Biergarten "im hof" or in the courtyard.
I'll make a long story short and say that Benny, Paul and I enjoyed a feast for the ages.
We had the most delicious cuts of exquisitely seasoned meat, including sausage, filet mignon, thick slabs of bacon, chicken, an abundance of fries and beer. Can't foget the beer.
Paul and I declared this dinner the "mealus glorius maximus of the 20th and 21st century".
Seriously, the photos do not do it justice.
For dessert, we had the most flavorful, mouth-watering crepe that far outdid any crepe we tried in Paris.
And the total bill was the equivalent of $48.00. Unbelievable.
So, if you're ever in Dusseldorf, Germany with an appetite for some seriously grub-alicious protein, this place is the place to go.

Pretzels, Bratwurst, cerveza y música tipo Polka.

The Corvette Diner in San Diego-- Perfect for kids! {Tasty Thursday}

Arcade games, strawberry shakes and singing waitresses aside, the Corvette Diner’s Menu is actually pretty good.

On a recent work trip to San Diego, where I took Benny and my parents along, we had dinner here one night after concluding my day’s appointments.
I had already eaten here before but as everything else in my life, once Benny was born, things started having a different meaning.
Whereas in the past I would have enjoyed a couple of cocktails and a side of fries, now my appreciation for this place started when Benny was handed a Corvette Diner paper hat and a handful of straws to slurp on a delicious ice cream shake.
There is a pretty nice kids menu which includes all the basics like Mac n Cheese, Chicken Tenders, Spaghetti, etc. We went for the turkey and cheese sandwich on wheat bread. I had the famous Rory burger which was an Elvis Presley favorite and included bacon and peanut butter. My dad enjoyed half of a huge pastrami burger and my mom simply ate a few bites from our meals.
The Corvette Diner is a 50’s themed restaurant with loud jukebox music and old black and white movies playing around the restaurant.
It’s loud, bright, colorful and extremely festive. It’s a perfect place to either overwhelm a calm and quiet baby or match the energy of a hyperactive kiddo. For us, it was the latter.
The Corvette Diner is located:
 2965 Historic Decatur Rd.
San Diego, CA 92106

 2965 Historic Decatur Rd.
San Diego, CA 92106
