Tickets Now on Sale for OUT OF THIS WORLD, a New Circus Production by Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey

First-Ever West Coast Tour Debut Blasts Off July 14th - August 7th Throughout Los Angeles
All California Show Tickets On Sale Now!

Fun Summer Activity Alert: The circus is coming to town, with what appears to be a one-of-a-kind performance centered around space travel!
I don't know about you but I'm kinda curious to see what this is all about and Benny already asked "Are the clowns gonna go to the moon?" LOL.

As we all know, the "circus that started it all" (Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey) has a reputation of fantastic shows and performers.
This year they pledged to stop featuring performance elephants during their shows after a long court battle with animal rights groups but the circus company promises to continue delivering unique entertainment for the entire family.

Their new production, Out of This World, promises to keep audiences riveted by an interactive, action-packed storyline "filled with space-age family fun and technology which deepens their connection to the performers." It's apparently going to take families through the lens of a magic telescope that discovers circus stars in the galaxy, and takes them along on a heroic mission of good versus evil to bring the performers back to Earth.
The circus show will feature interstellar worlds of sand, water, fire and ice.
Sounds fun, yeah!?
There's a special "Mom" Ticket discount going on right now with the code: MOM16.
Visit AXS.com to purchase your tickets now for shows at the Staples Center from July 14-19.

See you at the circus!

A Totally 'Fab' Saturday Morning with Benny at Au Fudge!

It had been a while since Benny and I had a "mommy date", especially if you factor in the long months of pregnancy that made me feel too exhausted to go on outings with my son.
But on Saturday, we headed out to actress Jessica Biel's restaurant "Au Fudge", a posh little family place in West Hollywood with playrooms and fun areas featuring a tree house, a photo booth and a mini arcade. The actress and her business partners got it right. They cleverly figured it was time for a really cute grub spot that catered to children and adults alike.
At the restaurant's entrance sits a lady who does face painting and balloon figures for the littles while parents look over the drink menu and wait to be seated.

On this occasion, Benny and I had the pleasure of visiting Au Fudge for a mommy blogger event hosted by FabKids

It was sort of an early Mother's Day gathering and a real treat for me, considering I hadn't left Toby alone with Paul for longer than an hour (the breastfeeding schedule has me pretty tied down)!

Benny and I munched on grilled cheese sandwiches, Mac n Cheese and brownies and I even got a glam sesh, courtesy of Glam Squad LA, while Benny made crafts with buddies he met there.

Best of all, my son and I reconnected with laughs, hugs, kisses and car ride conversations about Star Wars and his little friend John who likes to play "zombies".

When we got home I asked Benny if he had fun and he quickly replied "yes". Then he asked: "When Toby gets older can we take him there too?".

My heart liquefied. It just melted again.

Thanks JustFab for the invitation.

Benny's outfit and my shoes were gifted prior to attending the brunch... And we plan on wearing them often!

January 2016: Feeling 'Large and In Charge'

New Year's Eve 2016!
I am feeling happy and excited about 2016 and Baby Tobias arriving in early March.
I'm also feeling huge!
I've gotten the "are you having twins?" question plenty of times...LOL!
I've gained nearly 30 pounds but it all seems to be concentrated in my belly area.
My new OB-GYN says that although my belly seems big, my uterus is the right size for 29 weeks.
Since I also carried a very large belly when I was expecting Benny, I'm not going crazy over this issue. Still, I couldn't help but do a quick Google search on other mommies who have carried extra large bellies for a single child.
I found one mom in the UK, Lara Carpenter, whose baby belly measured 55 inches!
Her baby was a healthy, beautiful 9 lb. bundle of joy.
Lara also returned to her pre-pregnancy weight within a year after giving birth (#goals).
So there is definitely no shame in getting bigger (and BIGGER) by the minute so long as the child and mommy are healthy and happy.
My glucose test results came back normal and I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible, with quite a few craving exceptions but I make sure to walk on a daily basis.
I'm feeling quite large and in charge with my big bump but I'm enjoying it and I'm actually going to do something I had never considered before-- a pregnancy photo shoot with Paul and Benny!
Here are some pictures of other mommies' bumps who grew significantly during pregnancy but who look amazing now (and whose children are thriving)!
Cheers to big bumps and happy mommies!

Busy Phillips keeps is cool and casual with her super round (and cute) baby bump.

Jessica Simpson carried a sizable baby belly but I always thought she was pretty fab!

How gorgeous is Milla Jovovich?

Certainly Mrs. Kim Kardashian West has put on some belly inches each time she has gotten pregnant but I still think she's gorgeous.

Saludos

7 Tips for Taking your Toddler to a Dodgers Game

Our trip to Chavez Ravine at Elysian Park was long overdue.
I love baseball games and rooting for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame...Cause it's one, two...
Fine...I'll stop.
Benny is two and a half and had never been to a Dodgers game. But that changed last night when, I got a hold of a pair of tickets and decided to take my son for a "Mommy date" to go see the L.A. Dodgers play against the Milwakee Brewers! It was a very spontaneous, last-minute decision.
It was very exhausting but Sooooooooooooooo much fun, especially because the Dodgers beat the Brewers 3-2 and there was a fireworks show at the end of the night.
But the reason it was so tiring was because it was just me and Benny and he's adventurous and inquisitive and constantly wanting to explore new places!
We must have left our seats at least six times...but... we were seated for a round of "Waves" which Benny found exciting and we were at our seats for crowd cheering and screaming after an awesome play by Andre Ethier! We were also there for the 7th inning stretch and got to sing "Take Me out to the Ball Game..." (as referenced above...hehe).
All this to say, it was an amazing Friday night with Benny.
Here are some photos and seven tips for visiting Dodger Stadium with a Toddler.

1.         Children 3 and under can enter Dodger Stadium free as long as they sit on a parent/guardian's lap. I bought Benny his own ticket because he gets so squirmy sometimes that I figured we would both be better off with our own space!

2.        To avoid kids separating from their parents, there are “seat location” wrist bands that you can get at any Fan Service station. If you choose to get one for your toddler, he/she will get a wristband with their seat location and they get to wear it the entire evening, just in case.

3.        If it’s your toddler’s first time at a Dodgers game, they can get a Certificate of Recognition! These are also available at any Fan Services location. The certificate itself is signed by Magic Johnson and it reads: "First Time at Dodger Stadium"

4.        Make sure to sign your children up for the Dodgers kids club, the Jr. Dodgers! For more information please visit www.dodgers.com/jrdodgers (It’s free).

5.         The Reserve Level (Sections 31 and 32) has a play area for the little ones with giant bobble-heads and playground type structures. There are monitors nearby for parents to watch the game. I took Benny briefly but I was so focused on getting back to our seats to watch the game, that I didn’t snap a picture of this cutesy little playground.

6.         The Kid's Corral gives your little ones a chance to visit the Dodger Stadium warning track and see players up close! You must enter through the left field, field level entrance and go to aisle 27 to get to the warning track for this “Kid’s Corral”. They open it two hours prior to the game and you can get in as long as you have a ticket (pavilion & outfield seats excluded). People are rotated every 10 minutes so that everyone has a chance to visit and the Kid’s Corral ends as soon as visiting batting practice ends.

7.         When it comes to food, there are PLENTY of options. If you’re like me, you’ll forget the fruits and vegetables for a day and get a famous “Dodger Dog” but if you’re a 2 year old toddler, you’ll want pizza (as always) and ask for a Dodger Dog Plush Toy….(this really happened). All jokes aside, you can spend a little extra cash and purchase a “Dodger Nacho helmet”… Just think large Dodger Baseball helmet with the most delicious nachos inside. It’s a great snack and souvenir for your baseball loving kid!

Thanks for reading!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game”.

Now, let's talk about this awe-inspiring movie: It's narrated by Ewan McGregor. Humpback Whales is said to be "an extraordinary journey into the mysterious world of one of nature’s most awe-inspiring
marine mammals. Set in the spectacular waters of Alaska, Hawaii and the remote islands of Tonga, this ocean adventure offers audiences an up-close look at how these whales communicate, sing, feed, play and take care of their young. Captured for the first time with IMAX® 3D cameras, and found
in every ocean on earth, humpbacks were nearly driven to extinction 50 years ago, but today are making a slow but remarkable recovery. Join a team of researchers as they unlock the secrets of the humpback and find out why humpbacks are the most acrobatic of all whales, why they sing their haunting songs, and why these intelligent 55-foot, 50-ton animals migrate up to 10,000 miles round-trip every year." More details on the film's website.
Hope you're able to make it (with your talented and opinionated film critic children!!).

It's a Dinosaur Weekend for Tiny Tots Too!

Good news for parents whose kids love dinosaurs (but are too young to watch Jurassic World opening in theaters this weekend)—there’s an all-new animated Dinosaur film also premiering in theaters this weekend called “Back to the Jurassic”!!
Back to the Jurassic will be debuting in select theaters here in Los Angeles on Friday, June 12. Theaters, details, trailer and showtimes here.
The movie is about three kids who start a time-machine while playing in one of their dad’s inventor workshop. The kids are transported back in time 65 million years and adopted by a dinosaur named Tyra (played by Melanie Griffith) and her dinosaur son named Dodger (Rob Schneider).

The three kids explore the excitement of the prehistoric world. Meanwhile, in the present world, their parents are plotting their rescue. If they wish to make it back home they must steer clear of their evil dinosaur rivals (William Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin) and rely on their dinosaur “mother” Tyra and dinosaur “brother” Dodger— after all, family isn’t always just the one you’re born into!

Doesn’t this sound like a fun movie?
This is how I'll pitch the weekend to my son— A dinosaur movie night on Friday for Benny (Back to the Jurassic) and a dinosaur movie night on Saturday for mommy (Jurassic World), and that way, everybody will have a dino-mite weekend...Lol!

Movie Party at our House in Anticipation of Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron, in Theaters May 1st!

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias

My husband has been a long-time fan of Marvel Comic Superheroes. He actually owns a pretty nice collection of vintage Marvel comic books, which according to the hubby himself, he stopped collecting once he met me (his extra cash was instead being used on dinner dates and flowers).
Not surprising is the fact that he also loves superhero movies…and well, I do too.
So when we found out that Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron was opening in theaters on May 1st, we decided to host a party in anticipation of the big day!
This was an awesome family experience because I love to host parties, my husband loves The Avengers and our son Benny loves when kids come over to play.
We had about 10 guests over for a Movie Marathon night where we watched movies, played games and enjoyed plenty of food.

When we started planning this party, I made a trip to Wal-Mart and realized everything I needed was right there! Needless to say, just about everything purchased for the party came from WalMart, including Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron Doritos, Cheez-Its, Dr. Pepper and Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks. These items feature really cool movie character images and themed packaging!

You can find displays like these at Wal-Mart next to the snack and soft drink aisles. Isn't the Doritos packaging awesome?

To start off the evening, we watched Iron Man, because it seemed to be the consensus among the youngsters (later, a lucky winner got to take home the movie). We made our popcorn machine look like Iron Man and it was standing next to our Iron Man ice cream & soda bar...

The food table was decorated to highlight some of the upcoming movie’s main characters.
I printed food labels using a movie-themed font I found online.
We had Captain America Shield Pizza, Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron Sandwich Bites, Hulk Hot Bites, Thor Thirst-Quencher (Iced Apple Juice), Black Widow Brownie Bites, Ultron Prime Pieces and the movie-themed Cheez-It and Doritos snacks.
The shield pizzas were basically created by placing pepperoni and olives over a cheese pizza to look like the emblem on Captain America’s shield.

These yummy appetizers weren't quite hot wings, as planned and labeled but you get the point: "Hulk Hot Bites"

I used a Thor headpiece to decorate the juice dispenser.

Keeping things fun with Thor erasers on the straws and plenty of glitter paper for the food labels!

Our guests had too much fun with the paper character masks!

I made "black widows" out of brownies and black licorice

For the Ultron Prime pieces, I cut rice marshmallow treats into small squares, spray painted them with silver food coloring and placed silver appetizer forks in them.

I wanted our big screen TV to look like Hulk was standing behind it.
I painted a big Hulk Head and purchased Marvels’ The Avengers: Age of Ultron Hulk Gamma Grip Fists from Walmart and positioned them to look like Hulk was about to grab our TV… too much fun!
We made a cityscape behind Hulk’s head with black cardboard paper and yellow paint.

As far as games, we played “hot shield” (like hot potato) with a Captain America shield. The child who won, got to keep the shield.
I also created a “Wheel of Fun”.
Every child and adult got to spin the wheel and the prizes varied from movies, to Kellogg’s fruit snacks to books and toys, all themed after Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
And just to add extra fun for the kids, each one received a movie-themed goodie bag, with treats and prizes. Benny helped assemble and stuff the goodie bags the night before…it was the only way I distracted him from wanting to open the other toys!!

I made the Wheel out of cardboard, glitter paper and a small nail (in the center)!

Overall, we loved having good friends and relatives over. This movie anticipation party was really a treat for all… Oh and did I mention Paul brought out his comic books too?

Paul's been collecting these since the early 90's!

Toward the end of the night, he shared part of his collection with the older kids…
By the way, there is a “Super Heroes Assemble” app available in the iTunes and Google Play store. If you download it, I guarantee you will love it! All in all, we just love superheroes and can’t wait for Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron to hit theaters on May 1stWill you go see it & who's your favorite character?

Here's Benny's older buddy taking the role of several characters at a time!

The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
