Controversial Disney Illustrations on display in Los Angeles

There’s a very controversial art exhibit currently on display in Los Angeles.
The exhibit features illustrations of Disney characters that are, well, clearly out of character.
Cinderella for example, is seen holding up her middle finger at a portrait of her evil stepmother.
It also suggests Cinderella vandalized the picture by spray painting an expletive over it that reads: “You f****** bitter old B****”
In another illustration, Gaston and the Prince from Beauty and the Beast are locking lips. Some images are actually quite amusing (see below) but I can’t help but wonder what Jose Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros intended by changing people’s image of children’s Disney classics.
Then I wondered if I was being too sensitive, considering I’m a firm believer in the freedom of speech. But in all honesty, sometimes artistic expression feels forced and unhealthy…as if artists want attention for the shock value of their artwork more than their talent.
Here are a few of the pieces on display. There are many others that I considered too offensive to certain religions to describe or display on my blog. But you can check them out at: laluzdejesus.com
What do you think of the controversial Disney Illustrations?
