Benny's First Race

Well if seeing your three year old son run a quarter of a mile without stopping isn't enough motivation to kickstart your own running agenda... then I don't know what is!
I have a feeling Paul signed Benny up for this race to inspire me to start working out again... and it sorta' worked,,,LOL
In all honesty though, we both felt Benny should start participating in racing events to feel the enthusiasm of athletic competition.
Benny's first race was the Santa Clarita YMCA Heroes Run, which took place last Saturday.
The day was cloudy and cold (perfect running weather) and Benny was super excited.
Paul got to run with Benny and my sister, Toby and I waited at the finish line.
Fact: Teaching your kids the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle is extremely important for both their current and future health.

Paul prepping Benny before the race. Advice included: "Have fun, let me know if you need to stop and you're already a champion in my eyes!" Then he gave Benny a drink of water and Benny proceeded to play "superheroes" with a fellow running buddy (see below)

About 10 minutes into the race, we saw them coming. Paul was running alongside Benny and somehow managed to disappear for the finish line picture.

We were cheering and yelling: "Go Benny!"

Such a proud little moment for me!

It was a fun way to spend an hour of our weekend!

¡Si ver a tu hijo de tres años correr un cuarto de milla sin parar no es suficiente motivación para reactivar tu propio programa de ejercicio ... entonces no sé qué será!

Tengo la sensación de que Paul inscribió a Benny para esta carrera con el propósito de inspirarme a comenzar a correr de nuevo ... y creo que ha funcionado … jaja

Pero ya en serio, sentimos que Benny debería comenzar a participar en eventos de carreras para sentir el entusiasmo de la competencia atlética.

La primera carrera de Benny fue la del grupo de YMCA de la ciudad de Santa Clarita YMCA, que tuvo lugar el pasado sábado.

El día estaba nublado y frío (clima ideal para una carrera) y Benny estaba súper emocionado.

Paul logró correr junto a Benny mientras mi hermana, Toby y yo los esperábamos al final.

Muy importante: La enseñanza a sus hijos sobre los beneficios de vivir una vida sana y activa es extremadamente importante tanto para su salud actual y futura.
