Strawberry Gel 'Bionicos' for a Sweet Summer Fiesta!

Here’s an idea for a summer fiesta treat: Strawberry gel cups with a special mix-in recipe that will delight you. I know you’ll love them, I feel it in my bones…ha!

You can paint small skulls on the containers and give the dessert a unique Mexican touch. Skulls have become a very popular icon representing the Day of the Dead, which was first celebrated by the Aztecs.

Inspiration for my mix-in recipe came from a dessert called a Bionico, which I’ve enjoyed quite often here in Los Angeles. But the key to make this yummy version of a Bionico is the new Super Snack PackJuicy Gels (strawberry flavor). The gels are delicious AND they’re gluten-free, with no preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup and no trans-fat.

I purchased the new Super Snack Packs at WalMart.

When I first saw them, I knew they’d work perfectly for this recipe, not to mention, the new Super Snack Pack Juicy gels have 60% more juicy gel per cup, which means, more to enjoy!!

Here in L.A., many places sell “Bionicos” which are basically a perfect concoction of fresh fruit, coconut flakes, sweetened condensed milk, sliced almonds, whipped cream, raisins and granola.

For my version of a Bionico, using the Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels, I saved myself time by opting for fruit cocktail instead fresh fruit and I skipped the raisins and sliced almonds.

They turned out fantastic…certainly a tasty dessert option to consider for a summer party with a “fiesta” theme.

To make similar Bionico Snack Packs, you’ll need the following ingredients (serves 4):

3 – SUPER Snack Pack JUICY GEL cups

1 ½ – cups of Fruit cocktail

½ can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (7 oz.)

1 – cup of coconut shavings

½ cup of granola

Whipped Cream (I used Reddi Whip)

Fresh Strawberries for garnishing

Directions:

Combine the Snack Pack JUICY GELS, fruit cocktail, condensed milk and coconut shavings in a large bowl and mix. You’ll notice the mixed ingredients will take on a bright pink color!

Spoon the mixture into the Snack Pack containers. Add a touch of whipped cream on top and garnish with granola and strawberries!

Something else I noticed in the snack aisle, below the New Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels was the new Snack Pack pudding bars! I bought a box of the chocolate fudge flavor and they are the best thing ever! Each bite is moist and delicious— the perfect on the go snack for kids.

To paint similar skulls on the Super Snack Pack Juicy Gel containers, follow these instructions:

Use a small paintbrush to draw a skull. The idea is to shape the skull to look like a light bulb.

Next, use a thinner paintbrush and add pink cheeks plus a small pink flower on the top left corner of the skull. 

Using the same brush, paint a black heart at the center top of the skull and three small dots or triangles right above the heart. 

A smaller, inverted heart should be painted to serve as the nose cavity, right beneath the big heart. Then you paint large black circles as eyes with lashes curling out of each side. Finally, you draw a rounded line across the bottom part of the skull and draw the teeth. 

You make the teeth by carefully painting capsule-looking stretched ovals all along the smile line.

Lastly, you can add rounded brush strokes on each side of the nose to give it an extra artsy feel.

That doesn’t sound too hard, does it?

Aquí les comparto una idea para una fiestita de verano: vasitos de gelatina de fresa con una receta especial que les encantará y de la emoción quizá hasta les haga bailar y mover el esqueleto... ja!

Pueden pintar pequeñas calaveras en los vasitos y darle al postre un toque mexicano. Las calaveras se han convertido en un icono muy popular que representa el Día de los Muertos, tradición de los aztecas.

La inspiración para mi receta vino de un postre llamado Biónico, que he disfrutado bastante aquí en Los Ángeles. Pero la clave para hacer esta versión deliciosa de un Biónico es añadiéndole el nuevo Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels (sabor fresa). Las gelatinas están bastante ricas y son libres de gluten, sin conservantes, sin miel de maíz de alta fructosa y nada de “trans fat”.

Compré los vasitos de gelatina Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels, en WalMart.

La primera vez que los vi, supe que funcionarían perfectamente para esta receta, y cabe mencionar que los Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels contienen 60% más gelatina, lo que significa, que hay más para disfrutar!!

Aquí en Los Ángeles, muchos lugares venden "Biónicos", que son una mezcla perfecta de fruta fresca, coco rallado, leche condensada, almendras, crema batida, pasas y granola.

Para mi versión de un Biónico, utilizando los Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels, me ahorre un poco de tiempo al optar por cóctel de frutas en lugar de picar fruta fresca y por esta vez, no use pasas ni almendras.

Aún así, resultaron muy ricos... sin duda una opción de postre a considerar para una fiesta de verano.

Para hacer vasitos de postre similares, tipo Biónico, necesitará los siguientes ingredientes (para 4 personas):

3 – Vasitos Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels

1 ½ - tazas de Cóctel de frutas

½ lata de leche condensada azucarada (7 oz)

1 - taza de coco rallado

½ taza de granola

Crema Batida (yo usé la de Reddi Whip)

Fresas frescas para adornar

Otra cosa que me di cuenta en el pasillo de WalMart donde están ubicados los SuperSnack Pack Juicy Gels, es que también existen nuevas barras de pudín de la misma marca. Estas se llaman Snack Pack pudding bars! Compré una caja de sabor dulce de chocolate y les juro que son lo mejor del mundo! Cada mordida de la barrita es húmeda y deliciosa- una merienda ideal para darle a los niños.

Instrucciones:

Combine las gelatinas de Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels, el cóctel de frutas, la leche condensada y el coco en una sartén y mezcle. Observará que el postre tomará un color rosa fuerte.

Vierta la mezcla en los recipientes Snack Pack. Añadir un toque de crema batida por encima de los postres y decorar con granola y una fresita!

Para pintar calaveritas similares a las mías en los vasitos Super Snack Pack Juicy Gels:

Utilice un pincel pequeño para dibujar una calavera. La idea es darle forma al cráneo pintándolo como si estuviera pintando una bombilla de luz.

A continuación, utilice un pincel más fino y añada cachetes rosados y una pequeña flor de color rosa en la esquina superior izquierda de la calaverita. Con el mismo pincel, pintar un corazón negro en la parte superior central y tres pequeños puntos o triángulos justo encima del corazón. Un corazón más pequeño invertido se pinta para servir como la cavidad de la nariz, justo debajo del corazón principal. Luego se pintan dos círculos grandes negros con pestañitas saliendo de cada lado. Por último, se dibuja una línea redondeada a través de la parte inferior del cráneo y se dibujan los dientes. Los dientes se pintan como  unas capsulas o bien, unos óvalos estirados, a lo largo de la línea de la sonrisa.

Por último, se puede añadir pinceladas redondeadas en cada lado de la nariz para darle un toque artístico.

¿Verdad que no está muy difícil?
