Who said mommies can't match their little boys?
Benny and I are serious about seersucker and we showed it recently during a weekend outing...LOL!
I had seen the striped & crinkly fabric on many clothing items before but had never really paid much attention to it. That is, until a male co-worker arrived at the office one day, dressed in Seersucker, from head to toes.
He began telling me about this this all-cotton fabric, which apparently was made popular in the South, back in the early 20's. The fabric is woven so closely and tightly that it gives off a wrinkled appearance (I've never bothered ironing it).
According to Wikipedia, Seersucker "was considered a mainstay of the summer wardrobe...especially in the South, (where people) favored the light fabric in the high heat and humidity of the summer".
Apparently, there are seersucker festivals and social events that take place during the summer months and even though initially, it was a very affordable material often worn by the poor, times have certainly changed. Buying a seersucker clothing item, can be quite expensive these days!

y yo mostraron nuestro gusto por el tejido de algodón “seersucker” recientemente
durante una excursión de fin de semana...
Ya había
visto la tela de rayas y rizado en varios artículos de ropa anteriormente, pero
nunca le había prestado mucha atención hasta que un compañero de trabajo llegó
a la oficina un día vestido de “seersucker” de los pies a la cabeza.
Empezó a
hablarme de este tejido que es totalmente de algodón, y que al parecer se hizo
popular en los estados del sur del país, allá por los años 20. La tela es
tejida tan estrechamente que desprende un aspecto arrugado (nunca me preocupo
por planchar mi ropa de este material).
De
acuerdo a Wikipedia , seersucker " fue considerado uno de los pilares de
la ropa de verano ... especialmente en el sur, donde la gente favorecía la tela
ligera durante el calor y la humedad del verano"
Al
parecer , hay festivales de “seersucker” y eventos sociales que se llevan a
cabo durante los meses de verano y, aunque en un principio, se esté era un
material asequible y usado por la gente pobre , los tiempos han cambiado. La
compra de una prenda de vestir hecha de seersucker , puede ser bastante cara hoy
en día.
